Abstract

Seed priming with plant-derived extracts is a cost-effective enhancement technology for smallholder rice farmers. This study evaluated three Catanduanes heritage rice landraces hydroprimed with four concentrations of aqueous pili nut leaf extract. A 5% concentration produced optimal enhancement across cultivars, while salt stress treatments completely suppressed germination. The study provides a germinability baseline for these Catanduanes landraces and an initial assessment of Canarium ovatum leaf extract as a phytochemical priming agent.
